Beauty Product Review:Garnier Skin Renew B.B. Cream
B.B. cream, short for beauty balm or blemish balm, is an all-in-one primer, tinted moisturizer and SPF 18. That's the real beauty of BB cream. We're on product overload these days, and it can be confusing not to mention expensive at the drug store. With BB cream you get moisture, protection and light coverage with just one product. That sounds good to me!
But would it work as well as the experts were saying it would? I bought the Garnier BB cream (this is not a paid review). I simply like Garnier because I've tested a lot of beauty brands and have found that Garnier offers the best value. It may not always work as well as some high-end products, but it is so affordable. And it works much, much better than the cheaper stuff. Naturally when I went to choose a BB cream, I went with Garnier. The Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfecter B.B. Cream comes in a generous 2.5 oz bottle for about $12.00.
First I tried it all by itself as a tinted moisturizer. I love to use tinted moisturizer during the summer, because foundation just sweats off anyway. Tinted moisturizer really gives me the best coverage during warmer weather. Still I've always had to use regular moisturizer underneath my tinted moisturizer. But with the BB cream, there is no need for additional moisturizer underneath. In fact if you use moisturizer underneath, your face will look very dewy. So it gets an A+ for moisturizing. As far as coverage goes, it worked slightly better for me than traditional tinted moisturizer at evening my skin tone and covering blemishes. The best thing is you can and are actually suggested to apply it to your neck as well. This is great during summer to have a tinted moisturizer and SPF that will protect and improve the look and feel of your neck and chest. If it came in a bigger bottle, I would apply it head-to-toe. I really hope they come up with something similar for the body.
If you need more coverage on your face (like I do) you can also use BB cream underneath your foundation. On days when I need a lot of extra coverage, for a special event or photos, I usually use a primer, but those can be expensive and don't offer moisturizing or sun protection. Still some primers work so well, I wasn't sure if BB cream stood a chance.
The first time I wore my BB cream in addition to foundation, a woman I had just met stopped me mid-sentence and said, "You have flawless skin! I bet you hear that all the time." In fact I use to hear that all the time...about ten years ago. I was so shocked that when she asked which kinds of products I used, I stumbled over my words and forgot to tell her about this new BB cream. So it definitely gets an A+ for coverage as well.
I highly recommend you give BB cream a try! I definitely recommend Garnier if you are on a budget. If you'd like to splurge a little, I keep hearing that Clinique has the best higher-end BB cream, so give that one a try.
