Pic of the Week: Edgar Degas "Little Dancer of Fourteen Years"

I photographed this Edgar Degas "Little Dancer of Fourteen Years" mixed media sculpture at the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. The sculpture was originally cast in wax and adorned with a real tutu and a wig for realistic hair. When it was first shown in France in 1881, it received quite a few negative reviews and remained his only sculpture that was exhibited before his death though many were found in his studio.
