25 Halloween Costumes w/Your LBD

The easiest way to create a last-minute or inexpensive Halloween costume is to start with things you already have. I do it every year, because I get so frustrated with how expensive yet poorly-made most Halloween costumes are. I'd rather use what is already in my closet, or spend a little extra on accessories or a new dress that I can wear anytime of the year. A little black dress is the easiest way to use what you have to create a Halloween costume with a few inexpensive accessories and other accessories you probably already have in your closet.Pictured Above: Halloween Black Mesh Dress

1. Black Cat - This is the easiest way to use your little black dress on Halloween. I know it's pretty much the most generic costume in history, but for good reason - it's just so easy and affordable. It's the perfect last-minute costume for women, because you could really use any black outfit even if you don't have a little black dress. Pair it with your black flats or heels and a…

DIY Heart Cupcake Toppers

These love-themed cupcake topper candies are perfect for Valentine's Day or any heart-themed event. They'd also be a sweet addition to a wedding or anniversary menu. While they look very professional, I assure you they're so easy. If you know how to draw a heart, you can make these edible heart cupcake toppers. The pearl hearts are a little more advanced but worth a try.

INGREDIENTS:

Step1: Melt the candy melts in the microwave according to the directions on the package. Stir until smooth and pour it into a Wilton Set of 2 6-Ounce Mini Melting Decorating Squeeze Bottle. Use a funnel if you have one.

Step 2: Set wax paper flat your counter and use the squeeze bottle to make a heart outline. As you can see, my first attempt was not a success. You can leave some of the hearts open in the middle and fill some all the way in. Let the heart set at room temperature for a few minutes until completely hard.

Step 3: Lift up the wax paper and peel the hearts off.

Step 4: To make the pearl-coated candy heart, sprinkle on the Wilton pearl sprinkles right after you draw the candy heart. It does take a little effort to get the pearls sprinkles all the way around the edge. You have to kind of gently push them into place with your fingertip or a toothpick. To make the X and O, simply draw the letters. You could use other words like "love".

**If you aren't confidant in your free-hand skills, use a black marker to write the letters or hearts on a white piece of paper then layer it underneath the wax paper. The designs will show through so you can trace them more easily than doing it all freehand.

  1. Hi ~ this is something I have been trying at home with various chocolates & candies & things ~ question! How long do these candy melts hold up? Do they stay in their shape & even stand up on a cupcake?

    1. Oh so sorry I missed this comment! Both the candy melts and chocolate hold up just fine on top of cupcakes and cakes. Once it's set, just like if you were to put a store-bought piece of chocolate on top of a dessert, it would hold up very well and could be made a few days in advance. The frosting in the photos above is very thick. If you had a very light and fluffy frosting, it may have a hard time supporting heavier pieces.
