Color Block Dresses
Color blocking is still a huge fashion trend for 2013. An easy way to create instant color blocking is with a
color block dress. Styling a color block dress isn't as tricky as you might think. Play it safe with neutral accessories in black, metallic, or tan/nude. You don't have to spend a lot of money on a trendy color block dress. Many affordable stores like Target and Old Navy have several color block dresses to choose from, most priced around $20.

Fun Patterned Dresses
Fun and funky patterns are so hot for Spring 2013. Tie dye is experiencing another revival, and traditional prints like stripes and polka dots are also very trendy for Spring style. Pair these bold prints with neutral accessories.

Bold Color
Neons are still in for 2013, as well as rich hues like
monaco blue, poppy red, and the color of the year emerald green. These bold shades often look best with metallic or black accessories. Click here for featured items.
Edgy Florals
I've blogged several times about the
edgier modern florals for Spring. They're bold floral prints paired with bold color and black. My favorite edgy floral pieces this season were from
Prabal Gurung for Target. All of the floral dresses mixed with black would undoubtedly look best with black heels. I'd go with something simple like these high heel ankle-strap sandals.

Bold Black & White
Graphic black and white is one the top style trends for 2013. Black and white is a classic that is always in, but the trendy version this season displays big bold patterns in stripes, checkerboard, and other funky patterns.

Nautical Dresses
Nautical style is always in for Spring. Nautical stripes in blues and red with rope details create the perfect casual dress for a fun Saturday outing. Pair these preppy looks with tan or brown shoes, straw totes, and silver jewelry.

Fit and Flare Dresses
Among all these color and pattern trends for Spring 2013, there is a silhouette that is at the foreground - the fit and flare dress (also called the skater dress). As you can see it is fitted at the bodice then flares out at the waist. The fit and flare dress shape is perfect for pear-shaped figures.

From pretty pastels to traditional Spring florals, the more girly
dresses of the season all have lots of pleats. Pair these ultra-feminine
Spring dresses with white handbags and nude heels.

Ruffles & Lace
Despite the rise in edgier trends this year, traditional feminine dresses are still very in for spring. Thanks to Valentino's line of lace dresses for 2013, allover lace is a big trend this Spring. For a romantic date or if you're attending a Spring wedding, you can't go wrong with a ruffled chiffon or lace overlay cocktail dress.

The Hi-Low Dress
The hi-low dress, otherwise known as the mullet dress, that gained ground last year is back with a vengeance for 2013. It's quite a polarizing style. Women tend to hate or love it. I wasn't initially a fan, but the hi-low dress is growing on me. It's a great way to add elegance to a casual Spring dress.

Which style is your favorite? Which one of these dresses will you be wearing this season?
The pastel hues are huge this year. I realize that I'm a sucker for coral... never knew that until this year.
ReplyDeleteI love coral too! It goes surprisingly great with turquoise.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! My problem with summer dresses is fabric. There are some fabrics that just make me miserable when I am hot. That makes it hard to shop online because I want to feel them first.

ReplyDeleteMe too!! I hate dresses that have clingy fabric so I really have to try on a lot before I find ones that fit and feel just right. I usually have great luck at Old Navy for summer dresses!
DeleteI love so many of these. I think my favorite is the fit and flare section pale green floral. I prefer a 40"-50" dress but the Maxi's are too long and all the rest are too short. If it hits right under my knees then I'm happy!
ReplyDeleteI love all the fit and flares. Luckily I'm so short that they're long enough on me.
DeleteI feel strangely compelled to break out the chess set. Or the checkers set. Either will do, what with that one item of apparel midway through...
ReplyDeleteLol. Now that would liven up a party!
DeleteYour blogs are absolutely value bountiful time and also endeavor.
