A Vintage-Inspired Home Office

My husband and I have a dream, and a very real goal, to buy a house that we can retire in. On my list of things I'd love for the house to include is an extra bedroom that I could turn into a beautiful home office. I envision a very Instagram-worthy desk, a place to store all of the PR samples I get, and some pretty tufted accent chairs: where I can enjoy coffee breaks with my husband, who luckily also works from home.

When I get inspiration from vintage home offices on the web, I'm most attracted to spaces with a touch of modern glam. My husband and I both like transitional decor - old meets new. For example, I'd pair a modern mirrored desk with one of these antique desk chairs. Seating isn't often the focal point of an office, but why shouldn't it be? We spend all day sitting in it, after all.

My husband and I take frequent breaks throughout the day, with a coffee break here and there and a lunch hour during which we watch one of our favorite shows togeth…

Beauty Trends Fall 2013: The New Michael Kors Beauty Line

I am completely obsessing over the new beauty and fragrance line by Michael Kors. For his debut line of beauty products he's keeping it simple with three distinct collections - Sporty, Sexy, and Glam. I think it's quite genius. Style and beauty is a way for a woman to define herself, or perhaps reinvent herself. What better way than with a collection named sexy or glam?

The Michael Kors Sexy collection (pictured below) includes a bold and bright shade or fuchsia called Bombshell - a perfectly dramatic variation of pink for fall. The other lip and nail color in the set is a fall essential - Siren (classic red). The body products for the Sexy collection include an amber-scented perfume and a liquid shimmer body oil.

The Sporty Collection offers classic neutrals in shades of pale pink, bronzing powder, self tanner, and a citrus-scented perfume.

The Glam set is by far my favorite. The makeup in the collection contains two shades that are perfect for fall. The nail lacquer in Envy is a dark violet shade. The lip gloss, lipstick, and other nail polish in the glam set come in a rich reddish-plum shade. I love, love, love the lip lacquer in Dame (pictured right). The deep plum shade is perfect for fall. Similar wine shades were a hot fall beauty trend on the runways this year. It's the best shade for an all-over dramatic makeup look. A red lip looks great with understated eyes, but a dark wine or plum shade can work well with subtle eyes yet also looks beautiful with dark smoky eyes or the popular cat-eye trend for fall.

The price points for the Michael Kors collection are quite reasonable for a designer line, with the lipsticks just under $25 and the perfumes between $50 to just under $100. It's the perfect price for the fashionista and still affordable for most guys to splurge on to get their wives or girlfriends the perfect beauty gift.
