Pic of the Week: The North Portico of the White House


I've been in front of the White House on several occasions as I live outside of DC and love to go sightseeing in the city. The first time I saw the White House, however, I ended up on the north side. My friend took us to the back side of the estate because it's easier to get to. The front columns have become iconic through film, postcards, and many other forms of media. I wanted to see that side! Though the view from the other, while not near as impressive as the front, is still quite beautiful, with the federal architecture and hanging lantern. Also known as the North Portico, it's technically the front door of the White House.
