Trending: Coated Skinny Jeans

I recently talked about my favorite denim trend for fall - traditional skinny jeans. But as the fall denim guides come out, I'm reminded of a few more favorites, like boyfriend jeans and coated denim. Ken and I recently saw some coated skinnies at Target, so it looks like the trend will be widely available this year and at various price points. Image via Amazon Fashion

Red Carpet Fashion: Golden Globes 2014 Best Dressed

My most favorite gown of the evening was the Dior worn by Jennifer Lawrence (top left). Okay, I may be playing favorites here. I LOVE her, and I'm not sure I would love that dress on anyone else. I mean, she photo bombed Taylor Swift during her red carpet interview with Ryan Seacrest. What's not to love about Lawrence?

I must be the only person to have left Sofia Vergara off my list. While she did look beautiful in a Zac Posen gown, it was yet another strapless sweetheart gown with her gazangas hanging out. I get it, Sofia, you have the best melons in showbiz. We all get it. Even for the after-party wardrobe changes, Vergara traded in her Zac Posen dress for an even tighter and lower-cut mermaid gown - another mermaid gown! Maybe I'm being too picky, but just once I'd like to see her in something different.

Margot Robbie known most recently for The Wolf of Wallstreet (bottom right in this first layout) was another one of my top favorites on the red carpet. She looked so beautiful in a simple, sexy white Gucci gown.

Amy Adams, a Golden Globe winner for American Hustle took her plunging neckline trend from the film straight to the red carpet. Though she made a wise move in keeping the hair more elegant.

I'm always eager to see what Jessica Chastain is wearing. More often than not, she looks like a head-to-toe movie star, and I appreciate that she always achieves the perfect balance between sexy and classy. At the 2014 Golden Globes, she was stunning in a black strapless Givenchy gown (pictured above left). Newcomer  Lupita Nyong'o from the film 12 Years a Slave stole the show in her Ralph Lauren red cape gown. Everyone in the industry knows her name now.

Julianna Margulies was another one of my favorites, in a black and gold baroque gown by Andrew Gn.

Michelle Dockery (top left), one of the leading ladies of Downton Abbey, always looks perfectly polished on the red carpet. She wore a strapless Oscar de la Renta gown. Cate Blanchett, the queen of the red carpet, wore a black lace Armani Prive gown. Naomi Watts wore a sleek Tom Ford gown. And that hottie on the bottom left is Jenna Dewan-Tatum (Channing Tatum's wife) and one of the stars of the new Lifetime show Witches of East End. I so love that show! She is my biggest girl crush at the moment.

I don't believe I've ever rambled on so much about a red carpet post. With the exception of just a few looks, there were so many pretty gowns at the Golden Globes this year - nothing too crazy or trendy - just normal, pretty dresses with just enough embellishments. There were so many gorgeous gowns. Mila Kunis, Emma Roberts, and new comer Tatiana Maslany to name only a few, were also among my top picks. Click here to see all the red carpet looks. Which one was your favorite?

  3. I can't tell one designer from another--I don't know Donna Karan from Kmart. But fashion moron that I am, Paula Paton's dress was a nightmare!

Jennifer Lawrence seems to get everything right....
