A Vintage-Inspired Home Office

My husband and I have a dream, and a very real goal, to buy a house that we can retire in. On my list of things I'd love for the house to include is an extra bedroom that I could turn into a beautiful home office. I envision a very Instagram-worthy desk, a place to store all of the PR samples I get, and some pretty tufted accent chairs: where I can enjoy coffee breaks with my husband, who luckily also works from home.

When I get inspiration from vintage home offices on the web, I'm most attracted to spaces with a touch of modern glam. My husband and I both like transitional decor - old meets new. For example, I'd pair a modern mirrored desk with one of these antique desk chairs. Seating isn't often the focal point of an office, but why shouldn't it be? We spend all day sitting in it, after all.

My husband and I take frequent breaks throughout the day, with a coffee break here and there and a lunch hour during which we watch one of our favorite shows togeth…

10 Festive Valentine's Day Cocktails

If you're planning a romantic Valentine's Day Dinner for two, or a chic Valentine's Day Party with friends, try one of these festive cocktails in pink or red, or turn any cocktail into a Valentine's themed drink with this beautiful Pink  and Red Hearts Cocktail Rimming Sugar by Dell Cove Spice Co on Etsy (pictured above).

1. Valen-tini via McCormick - Don't let the cheesy name stop you. This drink is thick, chocolatey, and very easy to make! While this one isn't pink or red, it's perfect for Valentine's Day if you garnish it with beautiful fresh strawberries.

2. The Charleston Fizz via Saveur - This refreshing fizzy cocktail gets a light pink hue from grapefruit juice. Make a pretty pink garnish with a grapefruit slice.

3.  Whiskey Seduction via Solomon Oh for Saveur (pictured) - This dark red drink gets its color from red wine and black current liqueur.

4. Strawberry Fields Forever via Mix That Drink - Admittedly overwhelming with it's strawberry flavor, though according to the writer, this pink cocktail is perfect served with plain cheesecake. The hostess in me immediately pictured it served at a cocktail party with a dessert buffet of bite-size individual cheesecake squares.

The Love Bite cocktail is a delicious layered shooter drink. It tastes kind of like the B52, only more fruity and less sweet. It blends cherry and orange liqueurs with light cream to give it some richness.

5. The Love Bite via Mix That Drink (pictured) - This red drink is a cute little layered shooter that incorporates just three ingredients yet packs a nice little punch with tart cherry and orange liqueur.

6. Pretty In Pink Sangria by All Recipes via Yummly - If you're entertaining for a crowd on Valentine's Day, this drink is perfect, because you can make it ahead of time, and you can make it in a big self-serve pitcher.

Very-Pink-Raspberry-Cosmopolitan-single-original

7. Very Pink Raspberry Cosmopolitan via Creative Culinary, image and recipe by Shanna at Pineapple and Coconut - This raspberry cocktail is a gorgeous rich shade of fuschia and is very similar to a traditional cosmo with fresh raspberry juice and raspberry liqueur in place of the cranberry juice. Doesn't that sound delicious?

8. Red Hot Schnapps via Cocktail Times - This red cocktail takes a cue from the little Valentine red hots candies. It's a very easy cocktail with just a few ingredients. Given its hot cinnamon flavor, I wouldn't serve it at a party unless you have other flavor options.

Raspberry-Rose Collins

9. The Raspberry Rose Collins via MacKenzie Smith for Saveur (pictured) - With a garnish of raspberry and a rich pink shade, this drink is as beautiful as it is yummy. Serve it for a special event like a Valentine's Day ladies' brunch. It would look absolutely beautiful with the Dell Cove heart sprinkles.

10. Conversation Heart Vodka & Cupid's Kiss by Leah Bergman via Freutcake - To me nothing says Valentine's Day more than a little candy conversation heart. It basically the candy corn of Valentine's Day, right? It's not only festive but in a fun way that reminds me of being a kid. This recipe makes for a cute pink cocktail that utilizes a conversation hearts infused vodka and comes with a free printable for heart tags so you can give it as a gift or party favor.
