An Enchanting Garden-Themed Birthday Party
If you have a birthday girl in the spring, a butterfly or flower-themed garden party is perfect. I did this for my oldest daughter Kylie many years ago, and it was a big hit. The cupcakes were all topped with edible flowers, though the edible sugar butterflies pictured above would've been a great option as well. If you wanted to do easy store-bought cupcakes, you could simply top them with the butterflies and place them in these pink flower cupcake liners.
If you're skilled at cake baking and decorating, you could try your hand at making these adorable flower-pot cakes using the Wilton Flower Pot 6-Cavity Baking Pan. Even if you're only moderately skilled, simply ice the pot part, then fill in the dirt part with crushed chocolate wafer cookies and top each cake off with a flower lollipop or flower cookie. You could even cheat and top each pot with a bouquet of these pre-made edible flowers. In late winter and early spring, you can find a lot mini flower pots at the dollar store. Incorporate them into your buffet and table decor.
For the decor at our garden-themed children's party, I decorated with seasonal items from JoAnn. If you're planning a children's spring party, you should check out your local JoAnn or other craft store. They're full of excellent garden-themed items you can use for a kid's party. For my daughter's party I found some large butterfly and flower place mats that I also used as wall decor. I also found some large metallic flowers, originally intended as lawn stakes, that served as outdoor party decor and were later used in their room as 3D wall art.
For the table decor and the buffet, it's so easy and beautiful to use paper flowers like the ones pictured above. Those particular paper flowers are available in light pink, yellow, a dark melon pink, or purple. If you're crafty, you can save a lot of money by making your own paper flowers. Here is a great roundup of 18 Paper Flower Tutorials. But honestly, you don't save a ton of money by making your own, especially if you want the bigger more beautiful poms, and those are even harder to make than the smaller ones. For extra-special garden themed place settings, use these grass place mats. Those are a little pricey, but could be used again for an Easter party or a brunch.
A great arts and crafts activity for a garden-themed children's party is to get mini ceramic flower pots and let each child paint and decorate her own pot to take home. The paint-your-own ceramic flower pot sets that come with the paint are quite pricey, especially if you need to purchase a lot of them. You're much better off getting the paint and supplies from the dollar or craft store.
Party favors for a girly garden-themed party can be as simple as a seed packet or a nice little kit of a mini pot filled with children's garden gloves and seeds or butterfly stickers, etc. If you want to make beautiful but affordable garden-themed favors, buy some candy in bulk and package it in individual mini pots you can get at the craft store for under a dollar a each. Place each mini pot inside a large cello bag and tie with ribbon.
