Entertaining: Celebrate Spring with Beautiful Edible Flowers

Cooking with Edible Flowers

I love to entertain during spring. It's the perfect time to decorate with beautiful fresh flowers, but have you ever tried cooking with edible flowers? There are several varieties that are edible like dandelions, hibiscus, and lavender. You can use them in salads, on appetizers, or my favorite way - on top of pretty desserts. You can see a full list of which flowers are edible, what if any possible side effects they may cause, and what they each taste like on this edible flowers chart. Of course you don't want to just go around eating these flowers from just anywhere in case they may have been sprayed with harmful chemical, and you need to make sure they are indeed edible. Some inedible flowers can actually be quite dangerous to consume. If you don't have access to these flowers in an organic market place, you should be able to find a small packet of mixed edible flowers in the produce section of your grocery store, next to the packaged fresh herbs.
