The KCL Beauty Edit

Welcome to another KCL Beauty Edit! I've really loved so many of the beauty and makeup products I tried last month. There is usually at least one dud in the bunch that I reluctantly have to give a bad review, but I have something good to say about each one of these products. A few of them I very highly recommend, so grab a cup of coffee and check it all out. If you have a question about any of the products mentioned, please leave it below in the comments section. And if you don't have time to read this, you can skip ahead and listen to my video review here while you work or whatever. Enjoy!

The new skincare line I tried last month was from LHB Natural Skincare, which included a facial wash and two different facial serums. I recently posted about LHB in an anti-aging skincare routine blog and video to show how I use each of these products. Of course I started with the facial wash, which I really loved. The LHB Coconut & Sea Clay Mineral Face Wash is great for any skin type…

How to Dress Up Like Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's

I tried so hard to wait until October 1st to post about Halloween, but I couldn't help myself. I love Halloween so much! The pumpkins, the candy, the dressing up (yes I still dress up every year) is so much fun. Regular readers may recognize this from my old Halloween blog. I've been toying with the idea to combine that blog with this website, mostly because this one is doing so well this year. I really want to just focus on this site for a while, so I can continue to make it the best it can be. So I'm starting off with the Halloween blog's most popular post - How to Dress Up Like Holly GoLightly!

There are so many things to love about a Holly Golightly Halloween costume. First off, it's pretty and feminine without being the typical slutty costume. My favorite thing is you can use items you already have. Not every woman has a black gown and a tiara, but most have a pair of black heels and black sunglasses, maybe even a pearl necklace. If you don't have the necklace, you can easily pick up a budget option like this three-strand dressy pearl necklace for under $20.

The tiara is also something you can purchase at a costume jewelry/accessories store for under $20. This bridal comb is perfect for a DIY Holly Golightly costume. In the film Breakfast at Tiffany's (see opening scene below) Audrey Hepburn's elegant updo is accented with a small bridal pick that resembles a small tiara.

Now if you're wondering how to get your hair to look like Audrey Hepburn's in Breakfast at Tiffany's, here is a great video tutorial as well as a Breakfast at Tiffany's makeup tutorial:

You don't have to use a long black gown for your DIY Holloy Golightly costume. If you already have a little black dress, you can use that to save money on your costume. However, if you want to look exactly like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, find a full-length black dress. The premade Holly Golightly costumes are quite expensive given the fact that you're only going to wear it once. You might as well take this as an opportunity to invest in a nice dress that you can wear again to a black tie event. Look for a long sleeveless scoop-neck black gown that has a slim silhouette. Of course if you're on a budget, any long black gown will do with the right accessories. This Ever Pretty Black Formal Evening Dresses is on sale for $35.99. Here is another black gown that is actually under $20!

Another necessity to a DIY Holly Golightly Halloween costume is a pair of long black opera gloves. For the perfect touch, purchase a long cigarette holder.

  1. Just as long as it doesn't involve Mickey Rooney doing the most racist role of his era.
