Strawberry Vanilla Protein Smoothie


This strawberry kale smoothie is packed with protein, Vitamin A, calcium, and a lot of other nutritional goodies. It's a super sweet and healthy way to use up any lingering strawberries you may have from the farmer's market. It's also a great way to sneak some apple cider vinegar into your diet.

While I am trying to eat cleaner these days (okay, except for my weekend treats) I do have a tendency to use protein powder in my smoothies as a quick protein fix after workouts. Though it can be tricky with protein shakes. The mixes don't always taste that great, or they tend to have a weird aftertaste.

This Orgain Organic Plant Based Protein Powder, Sweet Vanilla Bean tastes great with tropical fruits, but I had some leftover strawberries and thought I'd git it a try. It's always a great way to sneak in veggies too, so I added frozen kale into the mix. The Stevia In the Raw gives it just a little extra sweetness without an aftertaste, and the banana makes it creamy. I really love to use unsweetened almond milk, because it's only 30 calories per 8oz. serving, but you can use regular milk if you like. INGREDIENTS
  • one and a half cups unsweetened almond milk
  • one cup frozen kale (fresh is okay too)
  • one small banana or half a large one
  • half packet of Stevia
  • 8-10 fresh strawberries whole
  • one scoop vanilla protein powder 
  • one tsp apple cider vinegar
Blend until smooth and enjoy!

  3. You really can't taste the kale in my smoothie recipes. That's why I love them. You get all of the nutrients, but it just tastes like a sweet fruit smoothie.
