3 DIY Exfoliating Facial Masks

Exfoliating is one of the most important steps when it comes to skincare. As we age, the skin doesn't naturally exfoliate as often, so it needs a little help. The immediate benefit to exfoliating is that it removes dead skin and encourages skin cell renewal, for younger looking skin. If you incorporate an exfoliating scrub into your skincare regimen once a week, the long term benefits include a reduction of dark spots, scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. Best of all, with regular at-home exfoliation, you don't need to spend a lot of money on expensive microdermabrasion treatments. With these easy-to-make DIY masks, you'll enjoy glowing, younger-looking skin with the added bonus of a fun and relaxing #selfcaresunday.

I've created three different DIY exfoliating masks to meet different skincare needs and to match different skin types. Each mask is formulated with an essential oil to enhance those skincare benefits. Though you could omit them and just use the first two ingr…

NYC Big Bold Plumping Lip Gloss Review

I'm a sucker for lip gloss; you could find one in every purse I own. But sometimes poor quality in the end can make a less expensive product not worth the money at all. That is definitely the case with the NYC Big Bold Plumping Lip Gloss.

Don't get me wrong, NYC New York Color is a budget makeup brand that I have liked for a very long time, hence I was willing to give their new plumping lips gloss a try. The slightly shimmery gloss is an average between $3.00 and $4.00 a piece and comes in several pretty shades of pink.

PROs
  • pretty colors
  • nice shimmer
  • affordable
CONs
  • not a good plumping lip gloss
  • doesn't stay on very long (despite that being a promise in the product description)

BOTTOM LINE

It's a nice cheap lips gloss, so if you really love the colors, go ahead and pick up one or two. It's a nice lip gloss to keep in your summer purse for a quick touch up. Though as you can see in the before and after pics, this lip gloss simply does not plump one little bit. I'm a firm believer that a product above anything should live up to its name; if a plumping gloss has the words "Big Bold" in the name, it had better plump at least a little bit.

If this were someone's first encounter with the NYC New York Color makeup brand, I'd bet they wouldn't become a returning customer. Though I have to say this is one super-affordable makeup brand that I have used and been happy with in the past. I love their Smooth Skin facial powder and especially both their quick-dry and long-wearing nail polishes.

Have you used any plumping lip products that worked really well? Please let me know in the comments below.
