Easy Everyday Contouring and Highlighting

Contouring and highlighting has been a huge makeup trend in recent years, and with good reason - you can use concealer to achieve more defined cheek bones, to make your lips look bigger, and my personal favorite - to hide a double chin. And despite all of the intricate tutorials out there, I want to show you that it can actually be quick an easy!

The first trick is to start with the right concealer shades. First, let’s get one thing straight: when I say highlighter, I do not mean the super light and shimmery highlighter that should only be reserved for above the cheekbones. I’ve seen all too many makeup vloggers apply that all over, from the forehead to the tip of the nose, to the cupid’s bow and the chin. Those however, are rather places for a creamy skin-tone concealer.

How to Pick the Right Shade of Concealer

For the highlights, you want a concealer that is one to two shades lighter than your foundation. If you just go one shade lighter, as I have, pick one with a yellow tone, so y…

Give: A Pretty Scented Candle

A candle is always a great gift for someone like a friend, a teacher, a neighbor, or any woman on your shopping list. A good-smelling candle...great. A good-smelling candle in pretty packaging with a cute name, like Bath and Body Works "Sweater Weather"...even better! For someone extra-special, it may not be a big enough or romantic enough gift on its own, but a small travel-tin candle makes for a nice stocking stuffer; and a nice larger candle can accompany a perfume or spa gift. It's also something you can spend just a little for if you're on a budget, though you can splurge if it's for someone special. Something like a Tocca or a Diptyque candle, for example, isn't just a candle; it's the gift of luxury. A box set of luxe votives or a matching candle and scented oil set are both great ways to upgrade a candle gift. Though just $10 - $20 can get you a great gift candle at a store like Kohl's, Bath and Body Works, or Target. To give as a hostess gift or a gift for someone who is on your $20 and under gift budget, you can pair a nice $5-$10 candle with a matching scented oil and reed diffuser, room spray, or scented hand soap.

For the fashion girl, you can't go wrong with a designer set. So many designers these days are collaborating with home accessory brands, bringing a stylish piece of our favorite designers to everyday home accessories, like candles. Pictured: House of Harlow Trio Gift Set via Anthropologie

For someone who loves home decor, pick a decorative candle that can be put on display, or a pretty votive holder set that can be reused.

For the wine lover, pair a bottle of her favorite wine with these fun Rewined candles that are wine-scented and hand-poured into re-purposed wine bottles.

Another way to upgrade any gift is to personalize it. For a personalized candle gift, you can go with something like a monogram candle or one of these zodiac candles.
