KCL Friday Finds

Happy weekend!! I've got another round up of beautiful home decor items for you guys today. It hasn't been intentional, it just so happens that the Friday Finds participants have all been home decor shops lately, and I'm loving it! With Spring coming up soon, it's the perfect time to spruce things up around the house and update your decor for the new season. Pictured: Geometric Pineapple Jewelry Holder/Home Accessory

First up is something we could all use more of in our homes - hygge by Snygge Home (pronounced snoo-gue). Snygge is a play on the danish word hygge that I'm sure you've heard of by now...or at least seen and thought what is hygge anyway? Hygge is "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being." You can read more about it on Hygge Home.

At Snygge Home, owner Alice and her boyfriend Jack create hygge-inspired homeware, gifts, and event decorations using 3D printing. And like most E…

The Most Beautiful Time of the Year

I've been wearing this makeup combo quite a bit this year, and it's perfect for the holidays. I remember, many years ago, reading beauty advice to never go with both a bold eye and a bold lip at the same time, but I simply don't agree. Nothing is more classic than a red lip paired with black winged eyeliner. It's the perfect beauty look for a festive holiday event, and with a few of my favorite new eyeliners, it's so easy to take from day to evening without starting your whole makeup look from scratch.

I've given mixed reviews on this Maybelline Master Kajal cream kohl eyeliner, but after experimenting with it for a few weeks, I've decided I really do like it. The biggest downside, only downside really, is that it does smudge easily. This can of course be a good thing if you want to create a smudged, smokey look. My advice - use it on the upper lid and use a regular black eyeliner on the lower lash line.

I use it during the day to create a more subtle winged eyeliner look, and love to use it underneath my liquid liner for a night out. It's perfect to use as a guide underneath the liquid liner. Simply rest the palm of your hand on your jawline to keep your hand steady while applying the liner. I find it's easier to work from the outside in. Find a spot slightly out and upwards from the outer corners of your eyes (in line with the end of your eyebrow should be a good place to start) and work your way inward with short, light strokes, then go back and fill in the rest from the inner corners outward. Then do the same technique to add on a layer of liquid liner for the more bold evening look.

Other than the red lips, I keep the rest of my makeup simple, with a touch of gold or rose shimmer eyeshadow and a bit of bronzer and blush.

I'm not always in the mood to wear heavy lipstick, so I love a good lip stain topped with lip gloss. It's a great way to get some bold color without a ton of lipstick that you wind up having to reapply. I'm wearing the e.l.f. Cosmetics lip stain in Crimson Crush topped off with the e.l.f. Lip Balm Tint in Berry.

I especially love this look for the holidays, because more photos are taken this time of year, and makeup just doesn't show up in pics as well as it does in real life. Having more defined eyes and red lips is a guaranteed way to look better in all of those holiday shots.
