My Favorite Jewelry Trends for Fall

As back-to-school approaches, I can't help but look forward to the Fall season. One of the best things about Fall in my opinion, is the fashion! With tall boots and suede hats to chic satchels and statement jewelry, it's the best time of the year to have fun with accessories. Personally, one of my favorite Autumn accessories, and the easiest way to update an outfit, is jewelry. From a big bold ear cuff to minimal gold necklaces with interesting little pendants, my fashion forecast for Fall this year includes more modern and sleek pieces.

For example, while I tend to love a pair of sparkly statement studs or a larger dangling statement earring, this Fall I see a modern ear cuff being one of the biggest earring trends, and it's definitely one of my favorite jewelry trends! It looks great on its own or paired with some gold hoops, and you can even pair it with a cool ear crawler. These elegant and modern ear cuffs come with sleek built-in tassel earrings. I love that this je…

Snapshots from the Week

I hope you had a very lovely Valentine's Day, or at least enjoyed some discount chocolate. I celebrated all weekend with my fiance. We went to a hotel, saw Romeo and Juliet performed by the Tulsa Ballet, saw Zoolander, and had a romantic lunch on Valentine's Day.

For this month's getaway, we stayed at the Marriott Courtyard downtown Tulsa. According to my fiance, it was the best bed and the best shower than any of the other places we've stayed. I loved that there is a Starbucks downstairs and of course the downtown location. I'll blog about it more and have plenty of pics to share in my Checking In column.

Before the ballet on Saturday, we ate dinner at The Vault downtown Tulsa. This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Tulsa, I think. It's called The Vault, because it is literally designed inside an old bank vault, in the art deco district downtown. The atmosphere is so cool, and the food is always delicious. And while it isn't cheap, for what you get plus the environment, it is reasonably priced.

On the way to dinner, we stopped at the opening of the new location for Decopolis, a really cool shop that coincidentally is run by the wife of the bartender who served us at The Vault. The shop is filled with so many different unique things. When I saw this display filled with Anne Taintor products, I knew I'd be going back there in the future.

We also stopped by the Philcade building, so my fiance could show me how beautiful it is inside. There are a few shops, a small art deco museum, and a crepe cafe inside. Definitely worth stopping by if you live in the Tulsa area.

Then we were off the the Tulsa PAC for Romeo and Juliet. Tragic story, yes, but it was still a very romantic date. The set and costumes were so pretty, and this story of an all-consuming love was portrayed beautifully by the lead characters. Ballet, and the theater in general, is a hit or miss for me at times; but these dancers were so good at acting that it pulled me in and kept me interested. It has me curious to check out Cinderella at the PAC. I'm wearing Essie nail polish in Watermelon, by the way. Totally my new favorite nail color for spring. I know it's still winter, but we can just pretend it's spring if we want to.

For lunch on Valentine's Day, we returned to the Zio's Italian restaurant where we had our first date.:) I've mentioned before on here how the first date wasn't some extreme magical moment, but it definitely left us both interested and attracted, and we just went from there, slowly getting to know each other and going on more dates. Though it only took a few more for us to see that we were both exactly what we had been looking for. My point is, sometimes it's best to not chase feelings, to not wait for some movie-inspired love at first sight moment and to just be real with yourself and the other person, and to see what good can come of it. Because the best feelings are earned. The best feelings come as the result of someone treating you the way you deserve to be treated.

Speaking of finding exactly who you've been looking for, and as you can see from my ring, we are engaged to be married. We used the extra Monday off to browse around the places where we are going to register for wedding gifts - Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, and Target.

I hope you had a lovely holiday and the extra Monday off to recharge. Have great week!:)
