KCL 2018 Beauty Awards

Welcome to the latest beauty edit and the very first beauty awards here on the blog! I’ve tried so many wonderful beauty products this year and wanted to let you guys know which were my top must-have products of the year. I’ve picked from new and small businesses only, as I love to work with indie brands. And like most of the beauty brands I review; most of these are organic, natural, and cruelty-free.

These are the items that long after the required testing and promotion period, I find myself still using and preferring above any others. The're the products which despite a never ending stream of free PR samples, I would still spend my own money (and in some cases have) in order to get more of. And whether affordable or more costly, these are the beauty products that I truly think are worth the price. So if you’re thinking about adding more beauty or selfcare products into your 2019 routine, I highly recommend each of these brands.

My Best Desserts for Spring


I do love fall desserts - pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and pretty much anything with cranberries. But Spring has its own set of yummy flavors. Things like coconut, banana cream, lemon, and strawberries are just a few of the flavors I love to use in my spring baking.

The strawberry-wine layer cake pictured above is by far one of the best (and prettiest) cakes I've ever made for the blog. And I promise, it's actually quite easy to decorate.

These beautiful blueberry-lemon puff pastry bites are a light and delicious dessert you can make anytime during spring. And you can easily mix up the recipe. For example, instead of lemon with fresh blueberries, you could pair vanilla pudding with fresh raspberries.

Banana Cream pie is often served during the holidays, but it works just as well for Spring. I love this Banana Cream Tart recipe I came up with a few years ago. It's a lighter version of a traditional banana cream pie, but is definitely just as yummy!


A classic white cake is the perfect canvas for many spring desserts. You can completely change up the flavor by adding things like lemon zest, coconut flakes, fresh strawberries, etc. To make it from scratch, start with this Perfect White Cake Recipe.
