Snapshots from the Week
I hope you all had a lovely week. I'm starting my weekend a little early with my fiance, and we get another hotel staycation in Tulsa on Saturday.:) It's always good to have time for just us.
This past week was lovely too though. We went to see the new Captain America movie on the weekend, which coincidentally (or not so coincidentally) turned out to be free comic book day. My fiance is always looking up fun things for us to do as well as things we can take the kids to. We knew they'd love some comic books. We headed to a local comic book store in Tulsa, where they had a large Tardis outside along with a few people dressed up as characters. The girls each got to pick out four free comic books.
The highlight for me was flipping through some Archie comics. I used to love...and I mean LOVE reading Betty and Veronica when I was younger.
Before the movie, we spent some time at one of our favorite places, Utica Square. It has pretty shops, restaurants, lovely gardens, and a Starbucks; so it basically couldn't be more perfect. You can bet you'll see a lot of it here on my blog. The flower beds are currently blooming with beautiful hibiscus.
Mother's Day was very special to me this year. It was my first Mother's Day with my fiance and his daughter. I got breakfast in bed and three handmade cards. Of course I also got some beautiful flowers from my fiance.:)
We tried a new wine this week that I have to say is very yummy. It's a blend of cabernet and merlot - something I've found to be a great balance between having some body, like a cabernet, but still being more drinkable, like a pinot or merlot. For an under-$20 red, it's actually very, very yummy. It's strong but still slightly sweet, and some of the fruit flavors definitely come through. If you like dry reds, give it a shot.
We just saw Money Monster last night (and of course stopped by for coffee along the way). We both liked it a lot and would definitely recommend it if you're going to the movies this weekend.
