Are you guys ready for the holiday weekend? I'm so ready. It's been busy around here lately. And well, I'm always ready for some extra quality time with my fiance. Last weekend we were at Tulsa Mayfest, and this weekend we are heading out to the
Tulsa International Balloon Festival. It's going to be gorgeous.
It was the first time for me going to
Mayfest since I lived in Tulsa a
long time ago. Tulsa always had a place in my heart even when I lived in
other places over the years. Don't get me wrong, I loved the east
coast, but there is something so special to me about being able to
experience my favorite places and events (as well as discover new places
here) with my fiance.
Mayfest is all about art, music, and yummy food. One of our favorite booths displayed some fun metal sculpture art, the coolest of which was definitely these camera-head figurines. This particular booth was by Joseph and Bridget Farmer of St. Charles, MO.
Of course the food is a must, when you can get any number of desserts and meats on a stick, and as always, funnel cake.
We sneaked away to Barnes and Noble and Starbucks a few times, for some time together and some yummy treats. The new s'mores bar at Starbucks is sooo yummy!
I saw this super cute bag at Barnes and Noble. Is anyone else a sucker for those end caps and display tables at Barnes and Noble? They have so many cute items. I found that this particular display is by a brand called
ban.do. They have a ton of cute stuff available online.
We also went to Barnes and Noble so I could pick out an adult coloring book. I've been wanting one for a while now, and when I saw these
VOGUE coloring books popping up on Instagram, I just had to get one.
As usual, we had some wine. We are definitely into trying new wines, but this week we went with one we know we love - the Angeline Reserve Pinot Noir.
For our date night movie, we saw
The Darkness. It was okay. It was definitely a good scary movie, but I think we both left the theater feeling a little underwhelmed. What we're really excited for is
The Conjuring 2! Though first we plan to see Me Before You and the new Alice movie.
My oldest daughter, who is also my junior bridesmaid :), went to the
Weddings of Tulsa Girls' Night Out event with me. It was another shameless excuse to sample cake and get ideas for beautiful place settings, etc. Though it was a little hard to go, as it was a girls-only kind of thing, and I would've loved to have had Ken there with me. I'm still in the phase...though I don't really think of it as just a phase, in which I want to be around my fiance like ALL the time. Yes, I will totally be one of those annoying wives who, whenever my friends are like, "Let's do a girls trip!" I'll be like, "Can we bring our husbands??"
Last but not least, Ken and I did
Red Nose Day. I love this man...he likes to be silly, he likes to dress up, he likes to participate in fun social media things; but in addition to being fun, he's also very smart and deep, more than capable of being serious when the occasion calls for it. What a keeper.
You guys have a lovely holiday weekend!!:) You can keep up with my Balloon Fest pics on
Instagram. Wishing you a fun and relaxing weekend!

We're definitely going with Merritt's Bakery, but it's tempting to schedule more tastings.:) That was the first time I'd been back to Mayfest in quite some time...yummy food, live music, and really cool art.
