When It All Comes Together Beautifully
My fiance and I have hit so many great milestones with wedding planning this month, from finding a photographer to picking out flower girl dresses and invitations. I'm definitely starting to feel like it's all coming together, and just a beautifully as I'd hoped, so I am one happy bride to be.:)
If you're a bride-to-be, there are some really beautiful wedding magazines out right now. The newest issue of The Knot is full of inspiring bridal beauty, Martha Stewart Wedding has an amazing flower editorial, and Bride's has some really beautiful real-wedding articles.
I skimmed through all of those at Barnes and Noble, just before we went shopping for flower girl dresses. I have to say, unless you have a very specific dress in mind, try your luck with department stores, as we did. We would up spending well under $100 for both dresses, when if we'd gone to a bridal shop, we would've easily spent over $100 on just one dress.
And much like bridal gown shopping, looking for flower girl dresses came with a few surprises in that the type of dress I wasn't even thinking about was the kind of dress we loved and wound up choosing. You just never know how things are going to look on and in person, so while you may have looked at countless dresses online and in magazines, always go with an open mind and you just might wind up with something even prettier than you'd imagined. I love how the dress we picked has some sparkle on the neckline. It mimics the embellished straps on my wedding gown. My youngest daughter (pictured) is going to be a flower girl, along with my fiance's daughter and my future step daughter.:)
We also got my older daughter's junior bridesmaid dress ordered, and one of my best friends picked out her dress for the final bridesmaid look. I can't wait to see my friends all together in their beautiful dresses. I highly recommend David's Bridal, especially if you have bridesmaids scattered here and there, and especially if you want a very specific color. I had a very particular shade of red in mind...not a bright red, but not a brownish burgundy either. More of a cranberry red. The "apple" color at David's bridal was perfect.
For our invitations, my fiance and I decided to go with Wedding Paper Divas after they had sent us a catalog full of so many beautiful options (and a few discount codes). They can be a bit expensive, but including all of the discounts they offer, it's definitely affordable, especially if you stick with a basic set of just the invite and RSVP cards.
We haven't received them yet, but we did receive a few things I ordered to go with the invitation suite. This rose stamp and red wax for a pretty wax seal is going to add an elegant old-world touch and gives us another way to incorporate roses.
I'm very happy we went with Wedding Paper Divas...at least I assume I will be even after the finished product arrives. Of course I'll post about that afterwards as well. They had a lot of different floral invitations to choose from, and their design services offer a lot of customization. I can't wait to get ours in the mail!
All of this planning is making it feel like the big day is getting closer and closer, because it is! I really can't wait to be able to call my fiance my husband.:)
