Easy Everyday Contouring and Highlighting

Contouring and highlighting has been a huge makeup trend in recent years, and with good reason - you can use concealer to achieve more defined cheek bones, to make your lips look bigger, and my personal favorite - to hide a double chin. And despite all of the intricate tutorials out there, I want to show you that it can actually be quick an easy!

The first trick is to start with the right concealer shades. First, let’s get one thing straight: when I say highlighter, I do not mean the super light and shimmery highlighter that should only be reserved for above the cheekbones. I’ve seen all too many makeup vloggers apply that all over, from the forehead to the tip of the nose, to the cupid’s bow and the chin. Those however, are rather places for a creamy skin-tone concealer.

How to Pick the Right Shade of Concealer

For the highlights, you want a concealer that is one to two shades lighter than your foundation. If you just go one shade lighter, as I have, pick one with a yellow tone, so y…

Snapshots from the Week

Happy October! I'd say I'm definitely on the mend finally...despite that as soon as my back started to get better, I came down with the cold from hell. But I am lucky to be with a man who is very caring and helpful; it makes those challenging times so much easier. I still had to take a few more days off last week, but I am doing much better at last.

I made it to the store with my fiance this week, and that in itself was a small victory for me considering how bad my back had gotten. Pictured above are some cute little pumpkins I saw at Walmart. It makes me want to get a sharpie and brush up on my handwriting skills.

We also saw that they had put up Christmas trees and a few Christmas decorations at Walmart. When Ken pointed out the trees, I let out my rather embarrassing fan-girl scream. It involved an "eeeek!" combined with some clapping and jumping up and down.

After our date last weekend, we saw more holiday decor at Michael's. We both loved this row of "Ravenshead Manor" brand Halloween decor.

For the date we went to Yokozuna downtown Tulsa. It was my first time there, and Ken was right...he knew I'd like the atmosphere, and of course I liked the food. Well, I have to say that I wound up not liking the particular sushi I ordered, because the flavor combo just wasn't what I was expecting. But the gentleman that he is, and because he luckily liked how mine tasted, he traded with me. The El Guapo Roll (pictured above) was amazing!

My just-because flowers this week was a single wooden rose. It was such a nice surprise. I'm always drying and preserving the petals from the roses he buys me (and sometimes accidentally burning them by forgetting that they're in the oven when I preheat it to make dinner) and this one will stay as beautiful as it now, for a very long time.

If you saw my last wedding blog, I gave Wedding Paper Divas a good review, though I still was unsure of the final product. But we received them in the mail this past Friday.:) It all turned out so beautiful. I can't wait to put them all together, ready to mail. I'll hopefully get a nice flatlay done this Wednesday for the wedding blog this week.

That same day we went out for National Coffee Day. I know I've met the man for me when National Coffee Day has become a romantic holiday for us. You can read more about that on the Tulsa Blog. We also thoroughly enjoyed a nice Saturday for Art in the Square at Utica. I'm saving those pics for the next post.

I hope you had a relaxing weekend and that your week is off to a great start! :)
