25 Halloween Costumes w/Your LBD

The easiest way to create a last-minute or inexpensive Halloween costume is to start with things you already have. I do it every year, because I get so frustrated with how expensive yet poorly-made most Halloween costumes are. I'd rather use what is already in my closet, or spend a little extra on accessories or a new dress that I can wear anytime of the year. A little black dress is the easiest way to use what you have to create a Halloween costume with a few inexpensive accessories and other accessories you probably already have in your closet.Pictured Above: Halloween Black Mesh Dress

1. Black Cat - This is the easiest way to use your little black dress on Halloween. I know it's pretty much the most generic costume in history, but for good reason - it's just so easy and affordable. It's the perfect last-minute costume for women, because you could really use any black outfit even if you don't have a little black dress. Pair it with your black flats or heels and a…

Snapshots from the Week

Happy Friday!! I hope you had a lovely week. I am definitely ready for a relaxing weekend with my fiance. This chilly weather makes me want to snuggle up on the couch. Of course we always make it out for some nice dates too. Last weekend we took the kids to the Tulsa State Fair, went by Philbrook for First Saturday, then went out for some one-on-one time.

This pumpkin funnel cake from the fair nearly killed me, but it was so delicious. We did learn our lesson though...we only need about two total to split between the five of us. I took so many pics at the fair. I love photographing the food and the carnival rides. You can see the rest of those pics on the Tulsa Blog.

The girls had a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed the wine tasting and the butterfly exhibit, even though one landed on my head and my fiance had to rescue me while I stood frozen in terror. I know...I know...they're just butterflies. But they still have creepy little insect legs and they flap around!

Philbrook was a last-minute thing when we realized it was 2nd Saturday, which means free admission, and extra activities for the kiddos. I was happy to see the Native Fashion Show exhibit. I wasn't sure if I'd wanted to see it, but after our visit, I was very glad to see it. Again, I took lots of pics that will definitely go on the Tulsa blog as soon as I get a chance.

Philbrook is so beautiful inside and out. I never get tired of photographing it, no matter how many times I go. It's such a beautiful and peaceful place to walk around in with my fiance.

The gardens at Villa Philbrook were still full of beautiful blooms and the monarchs that are currently migrating south. We had planned to see them at Woodwark Park, but there were also so many at Philbrook that we didn't need the extra stop. Now I know, and will have to mark it on my calendar every year, around the second weekend of October, the monarchs are stopping through Oklahoma in very large numbers.

Before our date, we stopped by Target with the kids to pick out some Halloween decor. Ken picked out a hanging skeleton for outside, and we picked out some black roses and a hand candle holder for inside.:) It occurred to me as I edited pics for this post that I haven't taken a picture of any of those yet. I will definitely do that on Instagram!

Before our movie, we went to Friday's I hadn't been there in forever and forgot how yummy it is. It was rather pricey, but then again we did have two dinners, an appetizer, and two cocktails. For the movie, we saw Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It was a very good movie. We'll have to watch it again with the kids, and I'm tempted to read the next books in the series.

I spent a fair amount of time updating our wedding registries and am so excited for our wedding shower that will be next Sunday.:)

For the wine this week, I put it into a separate post because, well, we drink a lot. We like to try new wines and imported beers, and recently tried a very yummy pumpkin spice rum. So those will go into this kind of post from now on. Cheers!

Last but not least, our first pumpkin pie of the season. It was store bought, so not quite as good as homemade, but I have to say the crust was very good for a Walmart bakery pie. It was very crisp and flaky. Sadly it's all gone now...what am I going to snack on this weekend?? I need to restock with something to feed my sugar habit.

Make sure you stop to enjoy the season. Grab some pumpkin pie and apple cider and watch a good scary movie! And have a great weekend!!:)
