3 Looks for a Summer Wedding

It seems not too long ago when I shared three looks to wear to a spring wedding. But that season has come and gone so quickly, and summer is upon us. And it is the biggest season of the year for weddings, so chances are you have a few invites and may be wondering what to wear. It's pretty easy to figure out summer wedding attire if you keep the location in mind.

Of course you have the invite to start with as well. It should say "Black Tie Attire" or "Black Tie Optional" or perhaps something like "Formal Beach Attire," and it will have the ceremony time. Generally indoor evening weddings call for more formal attire than outdoor afternoon weddings.

For an indoor wedding, no matter what time of year, you can never go wrong with a Black Formal Dresses. An elegant knee-length cocktail dress, like this FAIRY COUPLE Women's Off the Shoulder Lace Vintage Wedding Party Cocktail Dress is perfect for a black-tie optional indoor wedding, while a sleeveless o…

My Best Holiday Pie Recipes

I love REALLY love pie. I've never been a big fan of ice cream, and I'm pretty picky when it comes to cake. But mmmm pie...put just about any kind of pie in front of me, whether it's from scratch or store-bought, and I'll gobble it up.

It's not surprising that as I've added more holiday recipes over the years, the type of desert I have the most of on the website is pie. Here are my favorites, each one perfectly delicious for holiday entertaining.

Easy Maple and Brown Sugar Pecan Pie. Pecan pie is something I've only liked recently. Growing up, it was my Dad's favorite kind of pie, and while it always seemed good to me in theory; I never liked the jelly center underneath the pecans.

But then a few years ago, I tasted one my friend made, and it had a lot of pecans mixed in with the filling, not just on top of the pie, and I loved it. Still I didn't try to make it myself until last year, when I found that my fiance (boyfriend at the time) really likes pecan pie during the holidays. I tried a few different recipes and found this one to be the best. It's easy and loaded with pecans. Definitely something I plan to make again this year! Get the recipe >>

Banana Cream Tart. I went through a major banana cream pie phase. It's no longer my favorite, but hey, it's still banana cream's delicious! This particular one is made with coconut cream and a tart shell. If you want to try something in addition to the usual pumpkin and pecan pies this holiday season, you should give this one a try! I made the recipe 100% dairy-free for my daughters, so it's a great option if you need a lactose-free dessert but still want something creamy. Get the recipe >>

Rustic Mini Apple Pies. I believe these mini apple pies were the first pie recipe I put on the blog, and they have gained a LOT of viewers over the years. Personally I love a mini pie best, because you get more crust in each bite, and I am a crust kinda girl all the way. Get the recipe >>

Easy Maple Pumpkin Pie. Just like the banana cream tart above, this pie is 100% dairy-free. It took me a few years, but I perfected the lactose-free pumpkin pie recipe. And whether or not you need it to be dairy-free, this recipe is delicious and so easy. If you need a quick pumpkin pie that has an incredibly homemade taste, you can't go wrong with this one! Salted-Caramel Apple Pie with Fall Leaf Crust. Apple pie will always be one of my favorite kinds of pie, and really one of my favorite desserts all around. When I was younger, my dad and I would make an apple pie from scratch on the weekends. I would stand in front of the counter and use two butter knives to cut the butter into the flour (that must have been before pastry cutters and mixers were so popular, or hell, we probably just couldn't afford them.) None the less, I looked forward to those weekend making pie with my dad. He always let me make whichever kind of designs I wanted in the crust. It never had to look perfect...he just wanted me to have fun making it, and it always tasted delicious.

This particular apple pie I made last year for my fiance. He loves caramel, and I wanted to bake him a fall pie. It turned out amazing! And I love having this pic as it is a reminder of the first pie I ever baked for my soon-to-be husband.:) Get the recipe >>

And don't get me wrong; I love so many other kinds of pies. These are simply the ones I've put on the blog so far. I also love cherry, coconut cream, and lemon pie just to name a few. Last year I made a new recipe for cranberry-cherry pie that I will try to get posted this year. Let me know in the comments below which is your favorite kind of pie.
