Easy Everyday Contouring and Highlighting

Contouring and highlighting has been a huge makeup trend in recent years, and with good reason - you can use concealer to achieve more defined cheek bones, to make your lips look bigger, and my personal favorite - to hide a double chin. And despite all of the intricate tutorials out there, I want to show you that it can actually be quick an easy!

The first trick is to start with the right concealer shades. First, let’s get one thing straight: when I say highlighter, I do not mean the super light and shimmery highlighter that should only be reserved for above the cheekbones. I’ve seen all too many makeup vloggers apply that all over, from the forehead to the tip of the nose, to the cupid’s bow and the chin. Those however, are rather places for a creamy skin-tone concealer.

How to Pick the Right Shade of Concealer

For the highlights, you want a concealer that is one to two shades lighter than your foundation. If you just go one shade lighter, as I have, pick one with a yellow tone, so y…

Snapshots from the Week

Happy Friday!! What a busy week...I probably say that every week, don't I? It was Halloween, early voting day, some very long work days for my fiance, days during which the kids made me want to take a long vacation, days spent working very hard to update the Tulsa blog, but still in between all of that, some wonderful dates with my love.:)

Last weekend we started our date off with some coffee at The Phoenix Cafe and walked over to Centennial park. I am really loving the fall weather for that reason - grabbing a cup of coffee then taking a stroll in a pretty park with beautiful fall leaves...and enjoying the #makeoutweather :)

And while my fiance and I both know just how beautiful autumn is further north, there are plenty of pretty red and yellow leaves here in Tulsa at last. You can see a lot more of those fall leaf pics on my Instagram.

Our date that evening was a hotel stay and the Tulsa Ballet's performance of Onegin. Both Ken and I thought it was the most beautiful ballet we've seen so far. The costumes, the set, the music; it was all so incredibly beautiful.

Getting a bit ahead of myself though...before the ballet, we had dinner at McGill's, and it was amazing. I cannot recommend it enough for a romantic dinner date.

We also went to see Inferno this week, and we both thought it was the best of the Robert Langdon films thus far. It was just enough action and just enough mystery.

We had Halloween of course. You can see our pics from that here and here. And yesterday Ken and I went to early voting. I am very proud to say that #imwithher.

I'm very excited for tomorrow, because we have a date at the symphony during which there will be a screening of Indiana Jones, while the movie's score will be performed live by the symphony.:) Have a wonderful weekend!
