Snapshots from the Week
One more quick post before the holiday weekend! I am so very behind on posting and quite frankly, I don't care! :) I can catch up whenever, but my wedding, that was only going to happen this weekend, and this coming weekend is my first Christmas with Ken as husband and wife. I am so going to enjoy it, whether we are out somewhere special or at home on the couch...or even running errands. It keeps hitting me over and over again since the wedding...I am married to someone I truly love and my life is good...genuinely good. There is no faking or forcing it; we're simply happy.
We've been especially happy this Christmas to celebrate the holidays together as a family. If you follow me on instagram, you know how much we love wine. I made one more DIY ornament this year using corks from some of the wines we've enjoyed this year. I'm thinking I should make a new one each year, and one day....you know, when we have our mansion, complete with a wine cellar, the Christmas tree in there will be decorated with a ton of these ornaments.;)
During our wedding rehearsal on Saturday, we got to see Dresser Mansion all decked out for the holidays. The mansion is so beautiful all year long, but during Christmas...what a treat. And very convenient in that we didn't have to do much decorating for the wedding.:) Though I was up late making the bouquets on Saturday night. A very yucky cold had me doing a lot of last-minute tasks the day before while still feeling sick. But my groom was right there with me helping with everything.:) I'll get more pics of the wedding posted after I get them from the photographer (who was absolutely amazing), but for now you can see a peek of our behind-the-scenes pics here >.
We're taking a honeymoon later next year, but we did get away for the night at a hotel in town. We snacked on leftover Zio's catering and our wedding cake.:)
The next morning we did a few necessary things, like taking back linens and filing our marriage license downtown. But then we enjoyed a very nice lunch together, and we got Starbucks in the central library (that is where the modern Christmas tree above is).
Then honestly, we went home to relax, because we were absolutely exhausted, while I was still getting over my cold, and my fiance was coming down with it. We opened presents and thoroughly enjoyed all of the wine-themed gifts. Ken and I had already planned on a movie date as well, and it just so happened that one of the wedding presents included gift certificates to Cinemark. Hopefully Star Wars fans won't hold it against me if I admit that we were both disappointed with Rogue One.
We celebrated Christmas a little early, so we could all enjoy it together before one of our daughters left for Florida for the week. We rented BFC and had some yummy mulled wine. Well, the kids had sparkling grape juice.
This weekend we are hoping to kick this virus for good and thoroughly enjoy the holiday. We picked up a ham and some dessert, and of course more wine. We are wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!! :)
