25 Halloween Costumes w/Your LBD

The easiest way to create a last-minute or inexpensive Halloween costume is to start with things you already have. I do it every year, because I get so frustrated with how expensive yet poorly-made most Halloween costumes are. I'd rather use what is already in my closet, or spend a little extra on accessories or a new dress that I can wear anytime of the year. A little black dress is the easiest way to use what you have to create a Halloween costume with a few inexpensive accessories and other accessories you probably already have in your closet.Pictured Above: Halloween Black Mesh Dress

1. Black Cat - This is the easiest way to use your little black dress on Halloween. I know it's pretty much the most generic costume in history, but for good reason - it's just so easy and affordable. It's the perfect last-minute costume for women, because you could really use any black outfit even if you don't have a little black dress. Pair it with your black flats or heels and a…

Snapshots from the Week

Here I am, posting an ice pic from last weekend, and we're supposed to be in the 60s today...go figure, Oklahoma. While I am glad it's warmed up, I'm still wishing for some pretty snow this season. In the mean time, I'll enjoy the break from the cold, especially on the weekend!

On one of those colder days, however, we enjoyed our favorite slow-cooker beef stew. And I have to confess here, because I feel obligated to recommend this yummy product...this is not homemade at all. It's a Sam's Choice Slow Cooker Beef Stew meal from the freezer section at Walmart, and I highly recommend it. I add a little more liquid than what the directions call for (and sometimes a bit of leftover wine), then add some parsley and pepper, and serve it over old-fashioned egg noodles.

It's cheaper than buying a raw beef roast and much easier than having to prep the veggies as well. It's also done much faster. You can put it in on high for 4 hours, and it tastes just as good as a beef stew that has been cooking all day long. Yum!!

We did manage to make it out despite the yucky weather, which allowed us to get some cool ice pics. Ken and I had some time to relax and shop at Barnes and Noble.

We went with something we know we like when it came time for wine. We absolutely love the Apothic wines, and from the looks of the comments I got on Instagram, we're not the only ones. We really like the Red and the Crush best.

And last, but not least, we got addicted to a few new shows. One of my favorites is the new PBS Masterpiece Classic Victoria. For family time, we rented Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It's a great movie to watch with the kiddos.

We did have quite a busy week otherwise, and I'm definitely looking forward to relaxing with my husband. I hope you had a lovely week and have a great weekend!!:)
