KCL Friday Finds

Welcome to KCL Friday Finds! Today's shopping guide is full of affordable beauty-themed stocking stuffers. Don't get me wrong, I love to get candy and chocolates in my stocking, but I also love other gifts, like a cute new pair of socks and especially little beauty products.

A beauty stocking stuffer doesn't have to cost a lot. Between individual sheets masks and bath bombs  to lip balm and nail polish, you can find so many great options under $10. Several options below are even under $5.

The most universal of stocking stuffers, aside from candy, is lip balm. When given as a gift, go with something more luxurious than a Cherry Chapstick from the grocery store. My favorite lip balms at Bua Organics are all-natural and organic and come in options like Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, and Jojoba Oil. For a moisturizing lip balm with the addition of a fun scent, try Einstein Bath Co., for flavors like Sangria, Marshmallow, and Pink Frosting.

A wonderful way to give a luxury beauty…

My Makeup Picks for Spring

I have a few new favorites for Spring when it comes to makeup. Like most of you have, I assume, Ken and I have spent the new year replenishing some things we needed and buying a few brand new things. Out with the old, in with the new, as they say. We got things like clothes, yoga gear for him, and makeup for me.

I grabbed a few new Maybelline lipsticks, some new pink nail polish, and the Maybelline Master Blush Color and Highlight Kit.

The nail polish is Sinful Colors nail polish in 24/7 Pink. It's a bit more neon than I thought it was going to be, but I still loved how it turned out. It's the kind of pink that will be great through summer as well.

The beautiful creamy blush pictured above is the e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Blush in "Rose Royalty." Upon first glance, I thought, how can this be "bare," because it goes on very colorfully and isn't very glossy once you get though that shiny top layer. But after I applied it and blended it in, the color does look very natural and subtle. It isn't great for creating a dewy look, but it does have a more creamy and soft finish than a powder blush. I would call it matte cream blush. It's perfect for a soft, natural spring look.

For anything from a quick errand to a romantic date with Ken, I've been using the new Maybelline blush palette for a quick, pretty spring look. The colors are so beautiful. I use the highlight color on my eyes, along with the mauve shade. I apply a quick base coat of the shimmery highlighter over my lids, then I swipe the mauve over my cheeks and over my eyes (just underneath the brow bone to the outer corners), and I'm ready to go.

The two new lipsticks I got weren't typical spring shades. Maybelline fans are all about the new Nudes collection this season. But after I saw the colors in person, I just couldn't see them looking good on me (I have a very olive complexion). The shades I picked were "Crazy for Coffee" and "Plum Paradise." Crazy for Coffee is such a great neutral for darker skin tones. It is my new favorite shade of all of my lipsticks (which is saying a lot). Plum Paradise is a very pretty shade as well. It's very wearable for daytime, but it's pretty enough for date night too.
