Q&A: Thanksgiving 911

Every Thanksgiving hostess has his or her moments of anxiety. Hell, I've been making holiday dinners and hosting dinner parties for a decade, and I still get a little nervous when it come to roasting the perfect turkey. That combined with kids, houseguests, and having to make an endless supply of side dishes all timed in perfect harmony...it's a lot for one person. Hopefully by the time you've read this post, I will have answered any of your looming questions, but if there is still anything you are concerned about, please leave a comment at the end of the post, and I'll be sure to answer. 1. What if I overcook the turkey, and the breast meat is dry? Slice it thin and soak it in warm chicken or turkey stock.

Snapshots from the Week

I hope you had a great weekend and a very Happy Mother's Day! I got some nice gifts and handmade cards and breakfast in bed. Though honestly, I'm thankful for my husband most of all for making that happen. It's a sad reality that as kids approach the teen years, they become more self-involved...no longer the overly-affectionate and helpful little cuties who used to adore us. Nature's way of getting us ready to be empty-nesters? Nevertheless, we had some lovely weekend dates and some time with our two youngest on Saturday.

The VIP event I hinted at last week was a tasting at the new la Madeleine location in Tulsa, and it was such a treat! We got a sampling of the five courses on their menu, and with each course were several menu items, including dessert and wine. 🙂🍷 It'll be my next blog post this week, and I can't wait to share all about it.

On Saturday Ken took me out to see King Arthur. We both liked parts of it, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for us, but it was nice for a mindless escape. We're really looking forward to the new Mummy movie. I don't think that one will disappoint one bit.

Before the movie, we had Chipotle and stopped in the Philcade building downtown. If you live in the Tulsa area, you must check out that building. There is a cafe inside, as well as a small art deco exhibit and shops. The inside of the building is so incredibly stunning!

For Mother's Day, we stopped by Cherry Street for some coffee and window shopping. The Coffee House on Cherry Street is one of the best local coffee shops. They have so many yummy house-made desserts, and since the last time we were there, they added a ton of string lights. Very cool vibe in there!

We also stopped by the Tulsa Rose Garden to see if anything is blooming yet. The rose bushes are still struggling there, but there were enough to take a few pics.

Well, I hope you had a great weekend, and enjoy your week!!:)
