KCL Friday Finds

Welcome to KCL Friday Finds! Today's shopping guide is full of affordable beauty-themed stocking stuffers. Don't get me wrong, I love to get candy and chocolates in my stocking, but I also love other gifts, like a cute new pair of socks and especially little beauty products.

A beauty stocking stuffer doesn't have to cost a lot. Between individual sheets masks and bath bombs  to lip balm and nail polish, you can find so many great options under $10. Several options below are even under $5.

The most universal of stocking stuffers, aside from candy, is lip balm. When given as a gift, go with something more luxurious than a Cherry Chapstick from the grocery store. My favorite lip balms at Bua Organics are all-natural and organic and come in options like Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, and Jojoba Oil. For a moisturizing lip balm with the addition of a fun scent, try Einstein Bath Co., for flavors like Sangria, Marshmallow, and Pink Frosting.

A wonderful way to give a luxury beauty…

Melt-Proof Makeup Picks

One thing Ken and I have really noticed here in Texas is the heat! I've lived in other parts of the state...more southern, where the temps are high, but the humidity is much lower. Just north of Dallas, however, we are dealing with a bit higher temps than we're used to, as well as just about the same amount of humidity as we had in Oklahoma. And the sun is just so darn bright. I've had to switch up may makeup routine this summer to include some more melt-proof products.

In this kind of weather, I find it's best to stop fighting it and just go for more natural coverage for everyday, like this Aveeno Positively Radiant CC Cream Broad Spectrum Spf 30. If I need more coverage, however, I'll layer the CC Cream underneath a long-lasting matte foundation. For a melt-proof foundation and powder, I absolutely LOVE the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless line. I've been using it for years, and ever since I first tried it, I've used nothing else when it comes to powder.

On the lips, however, I've set aside my favorite Maybelline lipsticks for months now. I had the pleasure of sampling the new Lancome Matte Shaker Liquid Lipstick courtesy of Influenster and Lancome, and I am so pleased with the product. It's a liquid lipstick that functions more like a lip stain. It's very buildable, the finish is matte but velvety soft, and the color really does last all day long. Once it dries, it is completely smudge proof. It does dry the lips a little bit after continued use, but not nearly as much as the other long-lasting lip colors I've tried, so it's definitely worth the price! For a more glossy finish, simply top it off with a clear gloss like this Neutrogena Moistureshine Lip Soother Gloss.

For the eyes, I used to be a big fan of the new kohl liners, but here they just melt off in no time. For a warm-weather eyeliner that will last all day long, no matter how humid it gets, a liquid liner is just the thing! I use the New York Color Liquid Eyeliner in Extreme Black, though it can be a bit tricky to apply if I'm in a hurry. I wouldn't mind investing in a great felt-tip liquid liner like the L'Oréal Paris Infallible The Blackbuster Liquid Eyeliner.

  2. I definitely agree, when it's extremely hot and humid, the last thing you want to feel is heavy pounds of makeup on your face! I've never used that foundation before, but I've used that same line for concealer and love it! As for the lip shakers, I'm glad you love them, they're just too cute and I like the color selection, I have to give them a try! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead, beautiful!
