KCL Friday Finds

Happy weekend, guys!! I've got one beautiful small biz to share with you today, and then I'm doing things a bit differently for today's Friday Finds. I'm getting a bit overwhelmed with complimentary goodies this week, and I wanted to take this time to share my favorites with you. I'll be doing an unboxing video featuring the sample items, to post next week! But first, I did want to share one gorgeous shop with you guys. Check it all out below! Pictured: Minimalist Woven Pillow

Pictured above are some handwoven home goods by Melody Fulone. Her shop is full of unique and beautifully woven wall hangings, pillows, many other home accessories; and even a bit of fiber art jewelry. I really love the neutral colors and the modern designs.

Shop the 2018 Winter Collection. And keep an eye out for a DIY kit for a crochet wall hanging in a few weeks. Melody will also be releasing her spring collection in late March!

This next brand will go into both an unboxing as well as a B…

Melt-Proof Makeup Picks

One thing Ken and I have really noticed here in Texas is the heat! I've lived in other parts of the state...more southern, where the temps are high, but the humidity is much lower. Just north of Dallas, however, we are dealing with a bit higher temps than we're used to, as well as just about the same amount of humidity as we had in Oklahoma. And the sun is just so darn bright. I've had to switch up may makeup routine this summer to include some more melt-proof products.

In this kind of weather, I find it's best to stop fighting it and just go for more natural coverage for everyday, like a CC Cream. If I need more coverage, however, I'll layer the CC Cream underneath a long-lasting matte foundation. For a melt-proof foundation and powder, I absolutely LOVE the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless line. I've been using it for years, and ever since I first tried it, I've used nothing else when it comes to powder.

On the lips, however, I've set aside my favorite Maybelline lipsticks for months now. I had the pleasure of sampling the new Lancome Matte Lip Shakers, courtesy of Influenster and Lancome, and I am so pleased with the product. It's a liquid lipstick that functions more like a lip stain. It's very buildable, the finish is matte but velvety soft, and the color really does last all day long. Once it dries, it is completely smudge proof. It does dry the lips a little bit after continued use, but not nearly as much as the other long-lasting lip colors I've tried, so it's definitely worth the price! For a more glossy finish, try the Lancome Juicy Lip Shaker.

For the eyes, I used to be a big fan of the new kohl liners, but here they just melt off in no time. For a warm-weather eyeliner that will last all day long, no matter how humid it gets, a liquid liner is just the thing! I use the NYC liquid liner in black, though it can be a bit tricky to apply if I'm in a hurry. I wouldn't mind investing in a great felt-tip liquid liner.

What are some of your favorite makeup products for summer. Let me know in the comments below!

  2. I definitely agree, when it's extremely hot and humid, the last thing you want to feel is heavy pounds of makeup on your face! I've never used that foundation before, but I've used that same line for concealer and love it! As for the lip shakers, I'm glad you love them, they're just too cute and I like the color selection, I have to give them a try! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead, beautiful!
