Easy DIY Halloween Party Favors

There are so many cute Halloween party favor ideas floating about the web, like the witch's broom goodie bags for example, though they do require some DIY experience. These tin-tie bakery bags are the perfect size for a Halloween goodie bag, and they require no crafting skills. I love howthe favor bags I made them with are cute enough for kids but still nice enough for the grown-ups as well. All you need are the bakery bags, ribbon, and 3D Halloween stickers from the craft store. You can use the smaller bag pictured above or a larger bakery bag with a window display. I like to fill the larger ones with treats to give out as holiday presents to neighbors and teachers.

Simply fill the bags with a Halloween treat (homemade or store-bought), close them up and tie them off with ribbon, then affix a sticker to each bag. These are food-grade bags, so they're perfect to fill with homemade fall treats like popcorn, kettle corn, or Halloween chocolates. Try my DIY gourmet popcorn

KCL Friday Finds

This had definitely been one of those weeks when Wednesday felt like it should already be Friday...my husband had a flat tire after a long day of work, our youngest daughter had a scary concussion, I've been sick, etc, etc. But at last, it is Friday. We have no errands to run tonight and can just relax this weekend (knock on wood).

My favorite Fashion Inspo this week came not from the world of bloggers, or even from the fall fashion previews, but from one of my favorite Game of Thrones actresses. The beautiful and talented Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the HBO hit show that Ken and I watch every week, is becoming a rising star in the world of high fashion. Recently chosen as a new face for the Louis Vuitton fall 2017 campaign, Sophie is on the cover of Porter magazine for Fall 2017.

She isn't exactly new to the world of fashion editorials, having graced the cover of several big-name publications like InStyle, Town & Country, and Glamour. But I'd say this one is pretty significant considering Porter has become a favorite among fashion influencers, and it coincides with a new season of fall fashion and her new campaign with Louis Vuitton.

The prettiest Travel Inspo this week came from Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam. She shared not one, but two, extensive and beautifully photographed posts on her visit to Nantucket. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the never-ending photos of blue hydrangeas, charming lighthouses, and the most charming collection of summer hats.

In the World of Home Decor I've been dreaming of ways to decorate our new home. Most of all, so far, I am loving our new master bath and our new kitchen. The kitchen has a white subway tile back splash, charcoal cupboards, quartz counter tops, and wood floors. With the search features on Houzz, you can search rooms by those specific finishes and colors. It makes it very easy to envision what different accessories and colors would like like in a space.

After browsing through several similar kitchen this afternoon, it's safe to say that I really like how wood looks in the mix, as well as touches of greenery. I think Ken would like the look as well. We both enjoy the beauty of nature, and we like the cozy and rustic look of dark wood. I think our wine cask cheese board will fit right in.

This week in Shopping I've had three products really stand out to me. The first one was out of necessity. We have a German Shepherd who likes to bark like a maniac at every living thing...and sometimes at inanimate objects as well. That combined with the fact that she is strong as a horse can make her very difficult to handle.

We want to enjoy taking her on walks, to let her have fun in the dog parks in our new apartment community, and most of all to be able to take her down to the community dog wash (she stinks). I've been wanting to get a gentle leader leash, and Ken suggested a muzzle as well. Upon searching on Amazon, I found several soft fabric muzzles that function as both a muzzle and a gentle leader, so she won't bark or pull, and she'll still feel comfortable in it.

Another of my favorite product picks of the week is this set of wall-hanging mini vases. I love art and photography, but having nothing but flat art on every wall can get boring. I love to mix it up with beautifully framed mirrors, or pretty sconces, for some added dimension.

These mini vases are perfect for some cool air plants, but they can also be used for flowers. I like how they could be used to easily switch up a room. Go with air plants or succulents for a more modern look, for example, or use flowers for a more feminine and colorful wall.

I've also added some great new picks to the KCL Edit. You can see those here >.

To be a very popular girl at your next party, whip this mixture up in the blender. Pour in four bottles or cans of beer, one cup of tequila, and one can of frozen limeade concentrate (or whatever similar is available in your local grocery store freezer). Add more ice depending how frosty you want it to be.

Now, as it's the start to the weekend AND National Beer Day, I think this week's Culinary Inspo should be all about beer, don't you? Check out this Marie Claire article featuring 15 Easy Beer Cocktails to Try, including that "beerita" pictured above. Cheers and enjoy your weekend!!

  5. I love the way the wood and greenery looks in that color scheme, too! I read a post from another blogger the other day and she mentioned a company that repurposes cocnunt shells and turns them into bowls! I think that would look great too, you'll have to share a post once you've finished everything! Thanks for sharing what's inspired you and I hope you have a great week, beauty!
