My Favorite Fall Denim Trend

I was a little nervous last year when there was a lot of chatter in the fashion world about skinny jeans going out of style. I was determined to keep wearing mine despite the rise in wide-leg and distressed boyfriend jeans. It's not that I don't love the latter as well, but no one is taking away my skinny jeans! I was however, very disappointed by the sharp drop in jeggings - a term (and trend) which I remember laughing at when it initially came out. But then again, knee high boots seemed odd at first too. Now I couldn't make it through the fall and winter without those trends.

This last weekend, I was very happy to see not only skinny jeans but jeggings in particular...stacks and stack of them at Old Navy for fall 2017. I glanced at them and thought we had wound up in a maternity section. But as I took a closer look at a pair, I let out a little yelp as I realized they were regular women's jeans, with stretchy material, and a comfy elastic waistband.

I started to walk away, and Ken said, "You want to take a picture, don't you?"

I snapped back around and said, "YES!"

If you love to wear fall boots as much as I do, I know you'll appreciate this returning trend as well. A great pair of signature skinny jeans look and feel great tucked into tall boots, and unlike regular leggings, they tend to have back pockets and the look of regular jeans. So they're much more versatile as to which kind of tops and shoes you can wear them with.

I also really like how they kind of hold everything in and provide a seamless look around the waist. They're basically jeans with the power of shapewear.

I love the variations like faux leather leggings, and moto jeggings, but a great pair in denim is definitely a staple this season. And as much as I love to wear mine with tall boots; they also look great with other fall shoes like pumps, slip-on sneakers, and ankle boots. Though as the weather is bouncing back and forth between summer and fall, denim leggings look great with sandals too!

  1. I confess, I'm a fan of wide-leg jeans--but having a big butt, they make me look less out of proportion. Jeggings might be worth a try, though, with boots in winter.

    1. Totally, Norma! I'm very pear-shaped, so I don't personally like how I look in slim pants with flats, but I find that the boots during fall and winter really help balance thing out.
