3 DIY Exfoliating Facial Masks

Exfoliating is one of the most important steps when it comes to skincare. As we age, the skin doesn't naturally exfoliate as often, so it needs a little help. The immediate benefit to exfoliating is that it removes dead skin and encourages skin cell renewal, for younger looking skin. If you incorporate an exfoliating scrub into your skincare regimen once a week, the long term benefits include a reduction of dark spots, scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. Best of all, with regular at-home exfoliation, you don't need to spend a lot of money on expensive microdermabrasion treatments. With these easy-to-make DIY masks, you'll enjoy glowing, younger-looking skin with the added bonus of a fun and relaxing #selfcaresunday.

I've created three different DIY exfoliating masks to meet different skincare needs and to match different skin types. Each mask is formulated with an essential oil to enhance those skincare benefits. Though you could omit them and just use the first two ingr…

KCL Monthly Beauty Edit

Welcome to a brand new KCL Beauty Edit! I’ve been testing so many new skincare and beauty products since we moved into our new place, and this is the first monthly beauty edit since we settled in to our apartment. I like to share my favorites as well as the products I didn't like, so you know what to buy and what not to buy. You guys can shop all of the links below and see a more detailed review of each item in the new KCL Beauty Edit VLOG.

The superfood skincare line by ELEMIS contains anti-oxidant rich oils and a vitamin-packed Supergreen Complex including kale, matcha, broccoli and more. I tested the ELEMIS Superfood Cleansing Wash and the ELEMIS Superfood Day Cream. Right after using the face wash, I noticed my skin was glowing, and the day cream really helped to brighten my complexion as well.

It is a little on the expensive side, but I do feel that it's worth it for the quality. Their big sale on the superfood trio is apparently not going on anymore, but they do have an online exclusive sale on the entire Superfood Skincare System  which includes the face wash, day cream, night cream, and ELEMIS Superfood Facial Oil.

In addition to the Elemis vegan skincare, I tested a lot of all-natural body care products by a shop called Botany Barn. My favorite items were the Botany Barn Organic Lotion Bar and the Botany Barn Sweet Orange and Calendula Lip Balm. Everything is handmade with organic ingredients like herbs and essential oils and ultra-moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and almond oil. For the perfect sampling, you can customize this Spa Gift Set. See the full Botany Barn Unboxing video.

Not pictured here, I also included the Wet N Wild Kohl Liner in the vlog. It was quite a flop! This eyeliner smudges so badly, it’s not even the type of product that is okay for the price. Instead try this L'BRI Velvet Touch Eyeliner.

One of my favorite makeup brands I tested recently is Clarins. My favorite item from their new products for Spring was the CLARINS Eyeshadow Palette in Lovely Rose. The pink and purple shades are so beautiful, I’ll definitely be doing a makeup tutorial with this palette!

What I didn’t care for quite as much was the CLARINS SOS Primer in Lavender. It does work well and looks great, but it also clogs pores and has cause my skin to break out a few times, so my advice is to use it sparingly and to not leave it on for long periods of time.

The product that was a total flop for me was the CLARINS Eclat Minute Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector. It just doesn’t deliver. The color is very subtle, and I found that I needed to reapply it often. For being priced over $20, a lip product should really deliver.

I promise you won’t be disappointed if you try my favorite L'BRI Lipstick. It's so incredibly moisturizing, and the color lasts!

One of my favorite nail polish colors this Spring is this Essie in "perfect mate". It’s such a nice change from the typical pinks I usually wear this time of year. It’s a soft peachy sort of pink that you absolutely must try for Spring. See more swatches from the ESSIE Spring 2018 collection.

This last one had me very excited for two reasons before I’d even tried it - the fact that it’s pink and its name. Who wouldn’t want some pink Rose’ Bodycare? I sampled the VELVET Devaux Rose` Body Butter and the VELVET Devaux Rose` Hydrating Body Scrub. A sugar scrub is always a great way to exfoliate in the shower, and with summer coming up, now is the time to get those legs nice and smooth.

The lotion was moisturizing and has such a great fresh floral scent, but it's not quite moisturizing enough to replace an everyday cream if you struggle with dry skin. For that, go with the Velvet Devaux Daylight Body Cream and save the Rose` cream to use as more of a perfumed lotion for date night!
