Easy Everyday Contouring and Highlighting

Contouring and highlighting has been a huge makeup trend in recent years, and with good reason - you can use concealer to achieve more defined cheek bones, to make your lips look bigger, and my personal favorite - to hide a double chin. And despite all of the intricate tutorials out there, I want to show you that it can actually be quick an easy!

The first trick is to start with the right concealer shades. First, let’s get one thing straight: when I say highlighter, I do not mean the super light and shimmery highlighter that should only be reserved for above the cheekbones. I’ve seen all too many makeup vloggers apply that all over, from the forehead to the tip of the nose, to the cupid’s bow and the chin. Those however, are rather places for a creamy skin-tone concealer.

How to Pick the Right Shade of Concealer

For the highlights, you want a concealer that is one to two shades lighter than your foundation. If you just go one shade lighter, as I have, pick one with a yellow tone, so y…

A Vintage-Inspired Home Office

My husband and I have a dream, and a very real goal, to buy a house that we can retire in. On my list of things I'd love for the house to include is an extra bedroom that I could turn into a beautiful home office. I envision a very Instagram-worthy desk, a place to store all of the PR samples I get, and some pretty tufted accent chairs: where I can enjoy coffee breaks with my husband, who luckily also works from home.

When I get inspiration from vintage home offices on the web, I'm most attracted to spaces with a touch of modern glam. My husband and I both like transitional decor - old meets new. For example, I'd pair a modern mirrored desk with one of these antique desk chairs. Seating isn't often the focal point of an office, but why shouldn't it be? We spend all day sitting in it, after all.

My husband and I take frequent breaks throughout the day, with a coffee break here and there and a lunch hour during which we watch one of our favorite shows together. Between eye strain and lower back pain and carpal tunnel, it's so important to get a break from the desk and the screen. Though it can be hard to get in and out of the work flow on my busy days. I'd love a comfortable side chair in the office for those shorter coffee breaks. I think my favorite look when it comes to accent chairs in any room will always be a feminine vintage-inspired chair, like this Laxford Light Purple Tufted Fabric Club Chair. I’ll want two, so my husband can join me on those coffee breaks!

Of course I’ll want other practical office furniture pieces, like shelving and storage, but to capture the chic and vintage-inspired look I want; I’ll focus on the right seating and accessories. I want my desk chair and any accent chair I pick to be comfortable and supportive for my back, but they need to be beautiful too. I really want to incorporate rich colors and gold-toned accents. My motto with decor has always been that if you have to live in it and look at it every day, it should be something beautiful that you love to look at.
