Easy Everyday Contouring and Highlighting

Contouring and highlighting has been a huge makeup trend in recent years, and with good reason - you can use concealer to achieve more defined cheek bones, to make your lips look bigger, and my personal favorite - to hide a double chin. And despite all of the intricate tutorials out there, I want to show you that it can actually be quick an easy!

The first trick is to start with the right concealer shades. First, let’s get one thing straight: when I say highlighter, I do not mean the super light and shimmery highlighter that should only be reserved for above the cheekbones. I’ve seen all too many makeup vloggers apply that all over, from the forehead to the tip of the nose, to the cupid’s bow and the chin. Those however, are rather places for a creamy skin-tone concealer.

How to Pick the Right Shade of Concealer

For the highlights, you want a concealer that is one to two shades lighter than your foundation. If you just go one shade lighter, as I have, pick one with a yellow tone, so y…

KCL Friday Finds

Happy Friday! I'm so excited about the brands I'm sharing with you guys today. Okay...I'm always excited about the brands every single week, because I know you'll love each on of them, and this week is no different. If you haven't heard of these fashion and beauty brands yet, you'll be so glad to learn about them today on KCL Friday Finds. I've become such a fan of small batch, handmade products. They've come a long way since the days I spent buying random unlabeled homemade soaps at local farmer's markets. These products could have come straight out of a department store, though they still hold the same values and quality of being handmade. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!

First up, I have to tell you guys about this incredible hair powder and oil by a small organic beauty company called Lulu Organics. Founded by Linda 'Lulu' Aldredge, Lulu Organics is on a mission to stay homegrown and remain dedicated to the well-being of their customers with ingredients that are simple, healing, and most importantly, safe for your body! You may recognize these products; as they've been featured in big fashion and beauty publications such as VOGUE Paris, ELLE, Bazaar, Allure, etc. and was hailed by Refinery 29 as the hair product that will get your Instagram flat lays so many likes!

But does it really work? Yes, it does! I've been wanting to try dry shampoo for a long time, because it's such a great way to revive your hair on days that you skip shampoo. And we should all have days to give our hair a break from shampooing. It just makes sense to do that with a natural, organic product that is actually good for you, right? Check out all four scents, available in a travel-size hair powder.

Though my absolute favorite product was the Lulu Organic hair oil! I have such thick, frizzy, and naturally wavy hair; so I rely heavily on hair serums and oils. I was blown away by how soft this oil made my hair, yet it didn't weigh it down at all. I still need a serum if I want more shine, but this cut down on my frizz and left my hair so soft. Even better, it smells amazing. The Lavender + Clary Sage hair oil has almost an herbal tea scent to it, and of course lavender. This hair product is so luxurious and relaxing (without any irritating ingredients). It's the perfect #selfcare product to put on when you want to wind down for bedtime.

This next shop is all about tote bags! A girl can never have too many, right? I really do like the particular designs by Silver Lining, because while most tote bags are either casual market totes or fancier totes that you don't feel quite right using for errands; the totes at Silver Lining Style strike the perfect balance between both. They're nice enough to take to the office but also casual enough for grabbing flowers from the market on a Saturday morning.

As you can see, there are so many cute prints to pick from! I really like the neutral colors and the geometric-pattern totes. Some have a snap closure, while others, like this large travel tote (pictured above) have a zip-top closure with a convenient zip pocket on the outside. You can have your phone and wallet quickly within reach but also safe from getting lost or stolen. Take it from a former D.C. resident, a crowded city is not the place for an open-top bag. That convenient and lightweight large tote is absolutely perfect for sightseeing! Take a look at all of the beautiful prints and let me know in the comments below which one is your favorite.

The last thing I want to share with you today is from the KCL Edit, which has been recently updated for Summer. If you're all about the straw totes and palm prints, you're bound to find several must-have pieces in the Edit. One of my favorites is this Lucca Couture Women's Adriana Ruffle Overlay One Shoulder MidiDress. That particular brand has a lot of flowy summer dresses, so be sure to browse their collection. You can see the rest of my top picks in the KCL Edit.

I hope you've enjoyed Friday Finds! You can browse each brand with the links below. Happy shopping and have a lovely weekend!
