25 Halloween Costumes w/Your LBD

The easiest way to create a last-minute or inexpensive Halloween costume is to start with things you already have. I do it every year, because I get so frustrated with how expensive yet poorly-made most Halloween costumes are. I'd rather use what is already in my closet, or spend a little extra on accessories or a new dress that I can wear anytime of the year. A little black dress is the easiest way to use what you have to create a Halloween costume with a few inexpensive accessories and other accessories you probably already have in your closet.Pictured Above: Halloween Black Mesh Dress

1. Black Cat - This is the easiest way to use your little black dress on Halloween. I know it's pretty much the most generic costume in history, but for good reason - it's just so easy and affordable. It's the perfect last-minute costume for women, because you could really use any black outfit even if you don't have a little black dress. Pair it with your black flats or heels and a…

KCL 2018 Beauty Awards

Welcome to the latest beauty edit and the very first beauty awards here on the blog! I’ve tried so many wonderful beauty products this year and wanted to let you guys know which were my top must-have products of the year. I’ve picked from new and small businesses only, as I love to work with indie brands. And like most of the beauty brands I review; most of these are organic, natural, and cruelty-free.

These are the items that long after the required testing and promotion period, I find myself still using and preferring above any others. The're the products which despite a never ending stream of free PR samples, I would still spend my own money (and in some cases have) in order to get more of. And whether affordable or more costly, these are the beauty products that I truly think are worth the price. So if you’re thinking about adding more beauty or selfcare products into your 2019 routine, I highly recommend each of these brands.

I tried several different nail polish brands this year, and three came very close to tying for my top pick. Meraki Nature’s Cosmetics impressed me with their unique and large variety of nail colors and nail care products, while Flora 1761 blew me away with their incredibly beautiful packaging.

Though Taupe Coat really came through on several different levels. Like the other two faves I just mentioned, Taupe Coat is a toxin-free and cruelty-free brand. Their bold colors are paired with the coolest packaging, and the cherry on top is that they give to worthy charities.

I ventured into skincare tools this year, testing several different rollers and gua sha massagers. At the end of the year, I find myself still reaching for my jade roller and rose quartz butterfly gua sha tool. From beautiful packaging to high quality and a great price, go with a Peace Essential roller and gua sha set.

From Lulu Organics, my top pick is their Lavender and Clary Sage hair oil. It smells incredible, offers light frizz control and shine, and is so moisturizing yet lightweight.

For the ultimate in fighting frizz, my number one hair care pick of the year is The Healthy Farm Girl hair gel. I have super frizzy hair to begin with, and I live in Oklahoma (where the humidity is awful). I’ve tried so many different hair products over the years on my frizz, and not only does this work better than anything I’ve ever tried, it truly is natural and toxin-free. I don't see it currently available on their site unfortunately, but you can check back or check out their other natural hair care products. I did love their eco-friendly shampoo bar and hair conditioner as well.

What impressed me the most at Cult + King was the versatility of their Balm. Originally intended to be a shave cream, this moisturizing botanical balm was quickly being used by their customers for a number of purposes including body cream, undereye cream, hair and beard conditioner, and cuticle cream.

Personally I love to use it as a leave-in hair conditioner, moisturizing shaving cream, and hand cream. Their exceedingly cool packaging paired with eco-friendly refill pouches also make this my pick for the Most Eco-conscious Brand and the Best Product Packaging.

I loved several of the body creams I tried this year from different brands. The Arcadian Winds Nourish for Body body butter is so thick and rich and completely non-greasy. If you prefer a more oily body butter, I highly recommend CA Love Co. or Blue Dawn Aromatherapy.

Thanks to the rise in popularity of #selfcare and #toxinfreeliving, beauty and wellness have recently merged into one industry in a lot of ways. For some beauty brands, treating the body inside and out is essential, and I couldn't agree more. For everything from herbal teas and the most beautiful smudge stick to a jade comb and yoni wands, I highly recommend you start your self-care resolutions with something from Self Ceremony and from Mystical Blossoms.

I did love the natural deodorant at Arcadian Winds Beauty, though Blue Dawn Aromatherapy won in this category for me, because of their scent options. I really love their all-natural deodorant in Citrus Splash.

Like most of the categories, the beauty products in this one made for a very close tie. The Cocao and Lavender and the Matcha masks at S.A. Plunkett Naturals were so incredible, as was the Turmeric Clay mask and Pink Clay mask at Bua Organics. I highly recommend each of those depending on your skin type and skin issues.

The Re:Beauty Re:fresh Moisturizing Overnight Mask is my favorite way to wake up with super soft, glowing skin and plumped skin with fewer deep wrinkles. It’s a must the night before I shoot any videos or makeup photos.

The VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye masks are a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. They greatly diminish deep wrinkles overnight. See the incredible results in my before and after review.

I was so impressed with everything I tried from Lisa32 Skincare, but if I had to narrow it down, they definitely won out for me in the category of sugar scrubs. Their natural body scrubs come in the most wonderful seasonal scents, and they have the perfect oil to sugar ratio for my liking (I like it more on the oily side).

Bua Organics hands down won in the category of cleansing bars. They have so many wonderful options in face & body soaps and complexion soaps, and each one is so nourishing and smells so good. I love that their clay cleansers come in pretty little sample sizes that are perfect for travel. Even better, they're truly all-natural; so they're gentle, non-drying, and non-irritating.

I am so addicted to lip balm and had the pleasure of testing so many different brands this year. Worthy or note are the lip balms by Arcadian Winds, Bua Organics, Botany Barn, and Lisa32 Skincare. Though my top pick is from Einstein Bath Co. They come in such fun scents, and though it was a very close tie with the other faves I mentioned, it offered the most effective and long-lasting moisture of them all.

This was an impossible choice, so it's a tie, but for different reasons. The lipstick butters at Katrythia Law are so incredibly moisturizing, and the colors are so neutral and wearable. The liquid lipsticks at Puckerd were also a huge favorite this year. The colors are so bold and beautiful, and I love the velvety matte finish. Both brands have very long-lasting formulas!

Beauty Professional Look has been my go-to this year for palettes and makeup brushes. They have such pretty and high-quality brush sets. Whether you're a beginner or pro, they'll have a set that is perfect for you!

The eyeshadow palettes at Beauty Professional Look are just as impressive as their makeup brushes. Between their smokey palette and their shimmering "Set Your Eyes Aglow" palette, either one is all you need to create a day to evening makeup look in a snap. The shades layer and pair together so well, while some shades are so beautiful on their own, that even a beginner can create a gorgeous look with minimal time and effort.

I struggle with extreme eye allergies, and the Skin2Spirit Natural Mineral Mascara is not only completely non-irritating but gives my lashes both volume and length.

I am head over heels for the BaeBlu Lux Liquid Foundation. It offers excellent but breathable coverage, doesn't clog my pores, and contains ingredients that are good for the skin.

The Re:Beauty RE:HYDRATE Ultimate Hydration Cream has been my favorite face cream thus far, because it offers the most effective and long-lasting moisture without being too heavy or clogging pores.

ADORAtherapy was one of my favorite fragrances, as they offer perfume rollers and room sprays that are made with such sophisticated and complex blends of essential oils. With beautiful packaging, specific aromatherapy benefits per scent, and affirmations for daily intentions; this brand brings a unique experience with each elegant fragrance.

My other favorite was by KIND Soap Company. I tried their perfume roller in Bulgarian Rose, and I cannot stress enough how incredible it smells! I like that their scents have so many matching products like body soap, bubble bath, body butter, and more. Their Natural Perfume Roller is available in several different scents, including their brand new scent - Black Currant!

I loved several of the bath and body products from Sitronu, but what impressed me the most about this brand is their wide variety of gift sets. The larger gift boxes contain extra goodies like herbal teas, a silky floral robe, etc. The next time you need a spa themed gift, or simply want to treat yourself, I cannot recommend this brand enough!

BEST FACE OIL and Number One Product Pick of the Year!

The Re:Beauty RE:BALANCE Face Oil impressed me more than any product I tried all year! It truly brought my skin back to normal. I put it through a lot with product testing and makeup shoots and was struggling with red areas, dry patches, and breakouts. This product cleared, calmed, and moisturized my skin after just one use. If I had to pick only one serum, oil, or moisturizer to use; it would be this one.

So there you have 2018 top beauty picks. If you plan to invest more into your beauty routine this year, I know you'll love each and every one of these brands. There are so many different product types that I may have left out a few categories. If you have any questions about products I didn't mention here, feel free to leave me a question in the comments below.

Congrats and thanks again to each of the brands who partnered with me this past year. I am so looking forward to sharing more products with you all this year, and will be creating much more beauty content. Stay tuned on my Insta for a big announcement this month. Thank you so much for stopping by the beauty edit, and I hope you have a wonderful new year!!
